Welcome to Lineage Culinary

To begin the Lineage blog, I would like to discuss the inspiration for this site. I am a Corporate Research and Development Chef and have been in the food business for over 20 years. Cooking and science are my two greatest passions, and my work has allowed me to indulge them daily. As a professional chef and food geek, I spend a lot of time searching the web for food content. Although the internet is completely saturated with food websites, I often find myself wanting something more.

I wanted a website that had in depth information about ingredients, history, technique, and the science of cooking; a place where I could share my passion for learning about food. People can sometimes be intimidated by cooking. Understanding the “whys” can demystify it and make cooking accessible to everyone. I wanted to make a site where I could share what I have learned over the years to help others improve their cooking.

I wanted a site that incorporated photography and design so that it had an aesthetic that was enjoyable to navigate. My wife Lauren is a brilliant designer and art director. I love the way that she uses design to create an experience for the user in much the same way that I use food to make an experience for a guest. As Lauren and I both do creative work for a living, we often discuss the similarities between our work. We have always wanted to able to collaborate with each other, and this website is the result.

Before I ever thought of dawning a chef coat, some of my fondest childhood memories were in my grandmother Nena’s kitchen. She was Italian-American and lived in Alabama, so her cooking was an amazing blend of Italian and Southern food. She cooked from the heart and loved feeding her family. My passion is her passion, and she has been an inspiration for me throughout my career. Lauren and I created the name Lineage as an homage to the way the passion for food is passed down through generations. We hope to share our passion with you.
